PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording system which can form images superior in the uniformity with few density irregularities and white streaks without shortening the life of a recording head more than required at the time of image formation with the use of the recording head that has many recording elements for discharging ink arranged thereat. SOLUTION: Multi pass recording is carried out by applying switching by a recording scanning unit, a mask pattern which has a distribution of mutually different recording rates of blocks of a recording element array. The discharging number of times during recording can be equalized as much as possible at each block while the recording rate at both end parts prone to twist is lowered. Accordingly, a bias of a temperature distribution to be a cause of the density irregularities, and the end part twisting to be a cause of the white streaks can be reduced without shortening the life of the recording head more than required.
