PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic filing system which has the functionality of arbitrarily carrying out image processing of a transceived image, establishes various search information as well as a transceiver information to the transceived image, without needing special operation on the part of an operator, and has the functionality of searching the transceived image suitably after transceiving. SOLUTION: The electronic filing system instrument 1 has a facsimile communication system 11 and a facsimile communication control portion 12 which carry out fax functionalities, a registration controller 13 which carries a filing functionality, a search controller 19, a facsimile document retrieval condition setting unit 20, a facsimile number list search portion 22, a crediting pattern check portion 29 and a mass storage media 33, a transmission image processing portion 21 which carries an image processing facility, a transmission information processing portion 23, an image information check portion 24, a receiving image processing portion 25, an image information addition processing portion 26, an OCR (optical character reader) processing portion 27 and a forwarding destination information crediting portion 28.
