GAS DISCHARGE TYPE FLAT DISPLAY PANEL, ITS FRONT BOARD, AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel gas discharge type flat panel with high brightness and high contrast realized. SOLUTION: A barrier rib 18 of transparent low-melting point glass is formed on one side of a transparent glass substrate 10, and address electrodes 14 as well as phosphor layers 13 are formed in discharge spaces zoned by the barrier rib 18. Further, scanning electrodes 24 orthogonal to the address electrodes 14, a dielectric layer covering the scanning electrodes 24, and a discharge protecting film 28 made of MgO or the like formed on the dielectric layer 27 are formed on the surface of a rear-face substrate opposing to the front-face glass substrate 10 and exciting gas is sealed between the both sealed substrates 10, 20 to make up the panel.
