PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer a magnetic pattern to a magnetic recording medium satisfactorily by means of a magnetic transfer using a master carrier for magnetic transfer. SOLUTION: Master carriers 3, 4 are respectively made in tight contact with upper and lower planes of a slave medium 2 magnetized previously by an initial DC in the prescribed direction along a track direction and held by a holder 10, a lead wire 5 is inserted into a center hole 10c of the holder 10, the holder 10 is set so that the lead wire 5 is positioned at a center of center holes 2a, 3a, 4a of the slave medium 2 and the master carriers 3, 4, after that, the prescribed current is made to flow in the lead wire 5. The transfer patterns of the master carriers 3, 4 are transferred magnetically to a magnetic recording layer of the slave medium 2 by a circumference magnetic field H generated around this lead wire 5 by allowing the current to flow through the lead wire 5.
