PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device which has a drive mechanism capable of always making the optimum drive of a rotating recording medium depending on the medium and the contents to be handled, and also provide a program applicable to a computer accessing the rotating recording medium. SOLUTION: A CPU 101 executes a control program 201 and performs media discrimination including the kinds of the contents of the medium loaded in a disk drive 108. Then it controls the disk (medium) rotation speed in the disk drive 108 to be optimum for the loaded medium depending on the discriminated kinds of the medium. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
