PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control at a certain level reproducibility such as suppressing of falling of saturation when reproducing an image after conversion, in a color gamut conversion for compressing a color reproduction range. SOLUTION: When setting a point B on the outermost periphery of a color reproduction range of an output system device which corresponds to a color represented by a point A on the outermost periphery of color reproduction range of an input system device, the point B is so set that the color difference from the color of the point A is minimum. Since the color on the outermost periphery of the color reproduction range of the input system device is converted to the color of minimum color difference within the color reproduction range of the output system device in the same hue, falling of saturation is generally suppressed, allowing the image whose impression is close to the image reproduced by the input system device to be reproduced by the output system device.
