PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pyrolyse organic compounds and reform the tar generated with a small amount of energy. SOLUTION: The method of decomposition of organic compounds comprises pyrolyzing an organic compound 21 using the heat of ignition of fuel 23 as the source of heat and by decomposing volatile substances to lower molecular weight ones by reacting the byproducts generated by the pyrolysis of organic compound 21 with steam generated by the ignition of fuel 23. In the method, the energy efficiency required for the decomposition of organic compound 21 is improved, because the energy required for steam generation is reduced by utilizing the moisture (steam) generated on the ignition of fuel 23 for the decomposition of organic compound 21.
