PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably prolong the life of electrodes even when bad quality tap water is used. SOLUTION: In an electrolytic ion water generator, positive and negative direct-current voltage is applied to a pair of the electrodes 2 arranged so as to face each other in an electrolytic cell 1 to discharge ion water, separated into alkaline water and acidic water, from the electrolytic cell 1. In the electrolytic ion water generator, a water purifier 10 filled with anion-exchange resin 13 for removing nitrate nitrogen contained in water is connected to the suction side of the electrolytic cell 1. The purified water obtained by lowering the concentration of the nitrate nitrogen by the anion-exchange resin 13 of the water purifier 10 flows into the electrolytic cell 1 to be separated into the alkaline water and the acidic water.
