PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sanitary napkin whose function of hiding the color of menstrual blood is improved by speedily absorbing much menstrual blood given at the same time and preventing returning of the menstrual blood from a liquid absorption layer. SOLUTION: A surface structure 20 positioned on the surface of a liquid absorber consists of a base sheet 21 which has high liquid permeation function and a surface sheet 22 which is positioned on its surface and has low liquid permeation function. On the surface sheet, a large number of protuberance parts 23a and 23b are formed, and lateral opening parts 35a, 35b, 37a and 37b are opened on the lateral sides of the protuberance parts. The menstrual blood 45 is moved from the lateral opening parts to the insides of the protuberance parts and permeated through the liquid permeation hole 21a of the base sheet 21 to be absorbed speedily to the liquid absorption layer. It is possible to prevent diffusion of the liquid by the protuberance parts 23a and 23b and to prevent sticking of the liquid to the skin, thereby the color of the menstrual blood is hidden.
