<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code reader to which an automatic zooming function can be given with an easy method. <P>SOLUTION: The reader comprises a lens where a focal distance and a scale factor can be changed; an image pickup means comprising an image pickup element and reading an image of a code; a distance measuring means for detecting an image pickup distance of the code; a code identification information input means for inputting identification information of the code; a reference table in which a corresponding relation which is set at every code and which is between the focal distance of the lens and the scale factor, which correspond to the image pickup distance; a lens moving means moving a position of the lens so that the prescribed focal distance and scale factor are obtained; and a control means detecting the focal distance and the scale factor, which correspond to the image pickup distance, from the reference table of the code specified from inputted identification information with the image pickup distance detected by the distance measuring means as a key, controlling the lens moving means so that the prescribed focal distance and scale factor can be obtained, and moving the lens to a prescribed position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
