METHOD FOR MAKING PLANOGRAPHIC PRINTING PLATE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining a planographic printing plate having high water holding property in a non-picture part of the printing plate and little ink contamination in a non-image part and having stable printing property in a method for making a planographic printing plate using a photographically produced silver halide as an oleophilic ink-accepting portion.

SOLUTION: The method for making a planographic printing plate includes steps of exposing a photographic material having a silver halide emulsion layer to light, developing (not including silver complex salt diffusion transfer development) and treating with a treating liquid containing a silver halide solvent and an organic compound having two or more mercapto groups in the molecule. In the method, the photographic material has a polymer layer containing a hardening agent on the silver halide emulsion layer.
