SURFACE-TREATING AGENT FOR PREPARING FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITION HAVING NUCLEUS OF MAGNESIUM HYDROXIDE GRAIN, FLAME RETARDANT COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PREPARING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface-treating agent that attaches homogeneously to a surface of magnesium hydroxide grain and gives as a result a flame retardant composition, and, when it is e.g. kneaded with a synthetic resin and when the kneaded material is used for producing a product, imparts the product with a flame resistance with a sufficient water resistance without spoiling an intrinsic specific character of the synthetic resin, to provide a method for preparing the flame retardant composition using the surface-treating agent, and to obtain a flame retardant composition obtainable by the method. SOLUTION: The surface-treating agent for preparing the flame retardant composition having nuclei of magnesium hydroxide grains comprises a specified dicarboxylic acid monoester.
