PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document carrying device with a pair of carrying rollers having improved durability, preventing image misalignment. SOLUTION: The automatic document carrying device 100 comprises the pair of carrying rollers (the pair of before-reading carrying rollers) 30 in a paper carriage passage through which documents (sheet materials) S is led to an image reading part D. The pair of carrying rollers (the pair of before-reading carrying rollers) 30 consist of a driving roller 32 and a driven roller 31.
