Saucer for a drinks container or cup is made from a ceramic, plastic or metal hollow round, oval or rectangular body. The saucer has a switch contact (3) that connects via a rod to a toggle switch (5) that switches a clock on or off. Switching on or off is thus activated by placing the cup on or removing it from the saucer. When it is placed on the saucer the clock measures a period before a spoken statement or audible alarm alerts a person that another drink should be taken.
