A recombinant cell system (A) comprises an animal host cell that includes the following recombinant proteins: a specific G protein-coupled receptor (P1), and the calcium ion-permeable channel CNGA2 (P2). Independent claims are also included for: (1) preparing (A); (2) discovering receptor-activating substances (I); and (3) discovering G protein-coupled receptors. ACTIVITY : None given.
