<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for prolonging the life of an exposure head and preventing printed-out matter from dropping in quality. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 is equipped with: a photoreceptor 22 where an electrostatic latent image is formed on its surface; a charging device 26 which charges the surface of the photoreceptor 22; an exposure device 40 which has an exposure head 42 where a plurality of light emitting elements 44 are arrayed in a horizontal scanning direction and selectively turns on the light emitting elements 44 to form an electrostatic latent image on the surface of the photoreceptor 22; a developing device 28 which transfers toner to the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor 22 to visualize the electrostatic latent image; a transfer device 30 which transfers the visualized toner image from the surface of the photoreceptor 22 to a recording medium P; a fixing device 36 which fixes the toner image transferred by the transfer device 36; a discharging device 34 which discharges the surface of the photoreceptor 22; and a cleaning device 32 which cleans the surface of the photoreceptor 22, wherein the light emission start position of the light emitting elements 44 in the horizontal scanning direction is shifted in specified timing based upon information from a position detecting means 45 of detecting the position of the recording medium P in the horizontal scanning direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
