Disclosed is a tag for marking timber, particularly logs, comprising a plate-type tag member (21) which is provided with a signature. Clips (12) that are to be locked into peripheral indentations of the head of a driving hammer protrude from one flat face of said tag member (21) so as to be able to drive the tag into timber while the other flat face of the tag member (21) is provided with sinking elements that can be fixed in the timber. The clips (12) are disposed in spring tongue-type areas (23) of the plate-type tag member (21), said spring tongue-type areas being formed by slots (22) that are shaped into the tag member (21), for example. The inventive tags can be easily and safely clipped onto a uniform head of a driving hammer without clips (12) risking to break off even in case of dimensional variations due to the material or the production process used. |
