CONTRAST MEDIUM FOR X-RAY EXAMINATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray contrast medium which is highly safe and has a proper half-life, and to provide a method for producing the same.

SOLUTION: This contrast medium for X-ray examination is characterized by containing liposomes containing a water-soluble and nonionic iodine compound and having a blood retention time of 0.25 to 4 hours as a half-life. The above-mentioned liposome is preferably a single membrane liposome. The central particle diameter of the liposome is preferably 50 to 500 nm. The liposome is especially preferably a PEG-reacted liposome containing the PEG having oxyethylene units of 10 to 3,500 in an amount of 0.1 to 30 mass % based on the lipid constituting the liposome.
