SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises: a stroboscopic light emission section 6 which emits auxiliary light in the case of imaging; a sound processing section 40 and a speaker section 11 for generating a sound including an operational sound relating to an imaging operation; a key input section 39 including a silent mode key 14 for designating a silent mode; and a control section 32 for simultaneously prohibiting the generation of the auxiliary light and the operational sound in response to the operation of the silent mode key 14.
