PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of easily and desirably changing the amount of air conditioned air fed to a predetermined position in the vehicle. SOLUTION: The air conditioner for the vehicle has an evaporator 6 for cooling air introduced to an air conditioning casing 2; a heater core 8 for heating air passing through the evaporator; a cooling air passage 14 upwardly extending from a lower side of the heater core along a back surface of the casing; a warm air passage 12 provided in a downstream of the heater core; a first air mix damper 10 for distributing air passing through the evaporator to the air flowing to the heater core and the air flowing to the cooling air passage; a face mode blowing out port 26 positioned at a downstream end of the cooling air passage; a second air mix damper 16 provided in the downstream of the heater core and mixing the air of the warm air passage and the cooling air passage; an air direction control plates 40a, 40b provided in the downstream side of the cooling air passage and adjusting direction of air mixed by the second air mix damper; and an air direction control plate operation mechanism 50 for adjusting the direction of the air direction control plates.
