<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for clarifying green liquor in a process of pulping with which the amount of an added flocculant relatively to the green liquor is reduced and the clarity of the green liquor can be improved while reducing the chemical cost. <P>SOLUTION: Lime mud originating from lime mud separated and discharged by clarifying white liquor produced by causticizing the green liquor, together with a polymeric flocculant, is charged into the green liquor produced by dissolving a smelt discharged from a recovering boiler 7 in a smelt dissolving means 8 with weak liquor in a green liquor clarifying mean 9 so as to adsorb the lime mud on lightweight dregs and raise the settling speed of the dregs.
