PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image receiving sheet that ensures satisfactory toner fixability and the formation of a high quality image in which the glossiness in particular of intermediate density is improved, and to provide an image formation method that uses the electrophotographic image receiving sheet. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic image receiving sheet has a support and a toner image receiving layer which is formed on the support and contains at least thermoplastic resin. The Cobb water absorbancy of the surface of the electrophotographic image receiving sheet on the toner image receiving layer side is 1 to 20 g/m<SP>2</SP>. The toner receiving layer preferably contains a water soluble resin, which is preferably polyethylene oxide. The image forming method uses the electrophotographic image receiving sheet.
