PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely measure the content of a radioactive nuclide, even when a waste to be inspected is a large-scale rectangular container in which the density of the contents is not uniform. SOLUTION: In the method for measuring the content of the radioactive substance, using two kinds of detectors of an NaI detector and a Ge detector, the method includes: a measurement step (3) for repeating the change of the position and the measurement, by (2) changing the relative position of the NaI detector with respect to the measurement object, after (1) measuring the count rate of gamma rays by dividing the measuring object for each measurement cell corresponding to the visual field of the NaI detector; opposite pair evaluation steps (5)-(7) for calculating the radiation source intensity by eliminating the effect due to the position of a radiation source, using the measurement result from among the obtained measurement results in which the measurement is performed with respect to the opposite directions; and a content estimation step (9) for obtaining the content of the radioactive nuclide by integrating the radiation source intensity.
