PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a silencer for a vehicle capable of reducing manufacturing cost by fitting all the periphery of an outer plate assembly part to the opening of an outer shell without clearance even when the assembly part is deformed in cross section without accurately forming the cross sectional shape and dimensions of the opening of the outer shell and the assembly part of the outer plate closing the opening. SOLUTION: The cylindrical part 22 of the outer plate 2 formed in an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the cylindrical opening edge part of the outer shell 1 is fitted to the outer periphery of the cylindrical opening edge part of the outer shell 1. The cylindrical part 22 of the outer plate 2 on the outer side is reduced in diameter to fit it to the outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical opening edge part of the outer shell 1 on the inside.
