PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe skin care preparation which is used for the skin and is an extract from a plant belonging to Calanthe, Phaiusflavus(Blume) Lindl., or other pseudo-bulbs-having plants in Orchidaceae plants, its juice or an extract from the juice. SOLUTION: 2-Thiol-3-hydroxyindole, 2-S-β-D-glucopyranosyl-2-thiol-3-hydroxyindole, and 3-o-β-D-glucopyranoxyl-2-thiol-3-hydroxyindole are obtained by washing Calanthe discolor with water, finely cutting the washed material with a cutter, extracting the obtained fine pieces with water or an alcohol compound, or compressing the fine pieces to obtain a juice, or obtaining an extract from the juice, repeatedly fractionating and eluting the water extract, the alcohol extract, the juice or the extract with a combination of various kinds of chromatography to obtain a calanthoside B undiluted solution, and then degrading the undiluted solution withβ-glucosidase enzyme. These compounds are properly mixed with auxiliary functional nutrients to obtain a hair tonic, an anti-dandruff bacterium agent, a bleaching agent, or the like.
