PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new anti-malarial agent which has high safety and exhibits an excellent anti-malarial action in a low concentration. SOLUTION: This anti-malarial agent contains, as an active ingredient, a bis quaternary ammonium salt compound represented by formula (1), wherein, two R<SB>1</SB>groups are each identically or differently a 1 to 18C alkyl or a 3 to 18C alkenyl; two R<SB>2</SB>groups are each identically or differently H, a halogen atom, OH, amino, a 1 to 6C alkyl or a 1 to 5C alkoxy; R<SB>3</SB>is a 1 to 18C alkylene, a 4 to 18C alkenylene, or phenylene or xylylene which may, if necessary, be substituted with a 1 to 18C alkyl, a 1 to 6C alkoxy or a 2 to 6C alkoxycarbonyl; Y<SB>1</SB>is NHCO, CONH, NHCS, COO, COS, O or S; X is an anion.
