PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coagulation treatment method and apparatus which can improve the quality of treated water without increasing the amount of added coagulant. SOLUTION: In the coagulation treatment method for removing suspended solid by adding an inorganic coagulant to water to be treated, after the suspended solid is coagulated by adding an inorganic acid to the water to be treated so that the pH value of the water to be treated, after the inorganic coagulant addition, becomes equal to or below the prescribed value in the acidic region, or by adjusting the amount of the inorganic coagulant added thereafter, or after the suspended solid is coagulated by adding the inorganic acid to the water to be treated so that M alkalinity before the inorganic coagulant addition becomes equal to or below the prescribed value, or so that the pH value becomes equal to or below the prescribed value in the acidic region, and then by adding the inorganic coagulant, an alkali agent 9 is added to the coagulated water to perform the separation 4 of coagulated flocs in the neutral region.
