<p>In a papermaking process a continual web of paper is wound on to a succession of spools, each being pre-rotated to a pick-up speed before contact with the feed ribbon. The feed ribbon is cut and subdivided into two or more feeds prior to transfer. Subdivision of the feed ribbon into two or more, bleeds the air cushion that is otherwise formed by a web that has not been sub-divided. The feed (8) transfer to a second spool is effected when the paper on a first spool has expanded to a pre-determined diameter. The second spool is brought into contact with the first with their respective two or more web cutters. The first spool is then removed with the zigzag paper cutters transverse to the direction of spool winding. Also claimed is a commensurate paper web winding assembly.</p> |
