<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a highly accurate and high-speed pulse pattern in which the number of components is reduced and peak value fluctuations and time interval fluctuations of an output pulse are suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: An optical pulse generator is composed of only a semiconductor mode-locked laser, which is synchronized with an electric clock source, and a dispersion fiber. Data modulation is applied with an optical modulator from output light subjected to pulse compression. A bit rate is stepped up by multiplexing the output light on the time axis with a time multiplexer in a flat light wave circuit type with a pulse peak variable function. Thus, the highly accurate and high-speed pulse pattern, in which both of a peak value and a time interval are equal, is generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
