PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminaire using a straight tube type fluorescent lamp capable of attaching a light transmitting cover to a luminaire body regardless of dimension errors so that the light transmitting cover is attached also to a wide use luminaire body. SOLUTION: This luminaire 1 includes a luminaire body having fluorescent lamp sockets 22a maintaining a connection with the straight tube type fluorescent lamp 4 projecting at its both ends, and a light transmitting cover 5 for covering the straight tube type fluorescent lamp 4. The light transmitting cover 5 has end caps 42 for attaching the light transmitting cover 5 to the luminaire body 2 at its both ends. The end caps 42 each covers an edge surface of the luminaire body 2 and a rear surface 22a of the fluorescent lamp socket 22 almost along them. Thus, the end caps 42 can be attached to the luminaire body 2 regardless of dimension errors between the end caps and the end caps can be attached also to various types of the luminaire body having almost same outline.
