PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detecting device for position of mobile robot and its method, which can detect position of a mobile robot with ultrasonic wave signals oscillated from an ultrasonic oscillator device on a charging base and received by the mobile robot, based on RF signals emitted from the mobile robot at every specified time. SOLUTION: Position of the mobile robot is detected by implementing the following two steps: The first step of detecting the arrival time of ultrasonic wave signals oscillated from each ultrasonic oscillator device (3 and 4) on the charging base to the mobile robot, starting from the generation time of RF signal emitted from the mobile robot, to calculate the distance between the charging base and the mobile robot from the detected arrival time, and the second step of calculating the crossing angle between the charging base and the mobile robot based on the thus calculated distance between the charging base and the mobile robot and the preset distance between each ultrasonic oscillator device (3 and 4).
