METHOD OF DESIGNING SIDE TUNNEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side tunnel which has a stable middle part by design of considering load applied to the middle part between tunnels in construction of the side tunnel to be closely arranged. SOLUTION: Earth covering H of the side tunnel to construct is compared with a whole width Da of the side tunnel. When the earth covering H is longer than the whole width Da of the tunnel, analysis through a finite-element method is carried out by modeling of an amount of the whole width Da from a crest of the tunnel without modeling of a shallower natural ground part Y.
