PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flooring-like laying Tatami and its usage by which a Japanese-style room is converted to a Western-style room easily and the conversion work is carried out very easily. SOLUTION: The flooring-like laying Tatami 1 comprises a quadrangular mat of straw 2 having a board layer 4 and a heat insulating material layer 3, and an elastic surface sheet 8 which has a flooring pattern and is fitted to cover a surface and side faces of the mat of straw 2. The flooring-like laying Tatami 1 has the same height as that of a traditional Tatami T. Since the surface sheet 8 has the flooring pattern, the atmosphere is converted to the Western style atmosphere when the traditional Tatami T is removed and the flooring-like laying Tatami 1 is laid on a floor board B. Since the mat of straw 2 includes the heat insulating material layer 3, a heat retaining property is improved compared to a flooring.
