PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant epoxy resin and a flame-retardant epoxy resin composition. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant epoxy resin is prepared by reacting a phosphorus-containing compound with an epoxy resin having at least two epoxy groups. The epoxy resin has a polycyclic structure containing an aromatic group, an aliphatic group and naphthalene and is cured in combination with a specific curing agent. The flame-retardant epoxy resin composition having an excellent flame retardancy and physical characteristics is prepared from the above resin. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
