PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new phenylpropanoid condensed iridoid, its preparation method and a new antimalarial composition comprising a series of phenylpropanoid condensed iridoid compounds including the new phenylpropanoid condensed iridoid as active ingredients. SOLUTION: The antimalarial composition comprises the phenylpropanoid condensed iridoid of formula (2) (wherein R1is a hydroxy group, a lower alkylamino group or a lower alkoxy group; R2, R3and R5are identical to or the same as each other and are each a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, an acyl group, a lower alkylcarbamoyl group or a lower alkoxycarbonyl group; R4is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkoxy group, -OCOR7, -OCONHR7or OCOOR7[wherein R7is a lower alkyl group]; A is a single or double bond, provided that when it is a single bond, R6is a hydroxy group or a lower alkoxy group, and when it is a double bond, R6is an oxygen atom) or its pharmacologically acceptable salt as the active ingredient.
