PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for increasing the yield of an oxidation reaction product in an oxidation reaction utilizing a microorganism producing an alkene monooxygenase or a styrene monooxygenase. SOLUTION: The subject method for oxidizing a substrate (e.g. styrene or a styrene derivative) is carried out by the microorganism (e.g. a bacterium of the genus Mycobacterium or a bacterium of the genus Nocardia) producing the alkene monooxygenase or styrene monooxygenase. In the method, cyclodextrins (e.g. at least one or two or more kinds ofα-cyclodextrin,β-cyclodextrin,γ-cyclodextrin or cyclodextrin derivatives thereof) are made to coexist in the reaction system.
