PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide excavating equipment capable of efficiently executing excavating motions necessary for an especially large power by a low cost structure and an efficient method for inserting the excavating element into the earth. SOLUTION: The invented item is related to an excavating device in which an excavating element is inserted into the ground and an excavating method, provided with a driving device supported by a must in which excavating elements are inserted, collet rotary devices 30, 70 having a rotatable collet by at least one operation cylinder, at least two collet rotary devices 30, 70 engaged with the excavated element so as to transmit torque are provided, in order to improve torque transmission.
