摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus that can apply a gradient magnetic field safely at a high speed without omission. SOLUTION: The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus comprises a calculating section 206 for calculating the time variation rate of the gradient magnetic field on the basis of the variations of the gradient magnetic field with respect to the each coordinate axis direction and first information that correlates the each variation with time variation rate of the gradient magnetic field generated in the each coordinate axis direction, a calculating section 207 for calculating the duration of the gradient magnetic field for each time variation rate on the basis of the time variation rate of the gradient magnetic field and control data that governs the strength and sequence of the gradient magnetic field generated in the each coordinate axis direction, a check section 209 for calculating the allowed time of the gradient magnetic field for each time variation rate on the basis of second information that correlates the time variation rate of the gradient magnetic field with the allowed time for applying magnetic field continuously and for checking whether the each duration is within the allowed time or not, and a control section 210 for controlling the generation of the gradient magnetic field according to the control data in response to the check result.
