摘要 <p>Polyimide and polyamic acid exhibiting no absorption in the ultraviolet region, exhibiting high light transmittance and excelling in solubility in organic solvents. The polyamic acid and polyimide can be obtained from a diamine and a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of specified structure having an aromatic ring and an alicyclic structure. This tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride of specified structure having an aromatic ring and an alicyclic structure, as shown in Fig. 1, is a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride obtained through Diels-Alder reaction from, as raw materials, 2 mol of malic anhydride or its derivative and 1 mol of diphenylethylene or its derivative, or is a hydrogenation product thereof. In particular, this hydrogenation product has its carbon to carbon double bond portion, formed by the Diels-Alder reaction, hydrogenated, and hence is a stable compound with which any inverse Diels-Alder reaction in high temperature environment is suppressed.</p>
