According to a navigation system of the present invention, a character that allows a location to be determined is imaged by an imaging part (12) integrated in a mobile telephone apparatus (1), so that the user need not perform any complicated operations. Only if a subject that allows a desired location to be determined is imaged, it allows a destination of a preferred path to be designated, or allows a position in a displayed window to be designated. Additionally, even in a case of using a navigation apparatus (2) having a poor image display capability or having no display part, a display part (10) of the mobile telephone apparatus (1) may be utilized to allow the user to readily recognize a search result.
