A retractable writing material has a writing body retractable in a shaft tube, and has a seal cover and a seal tube portion that seal a writing portion of the writing body while interlocking with a forward/backward movement of the writing body. The seal cover and a guide tube that is fixed to the writing body are connected by plural fine line portions, and the seal cover and the fine line portions are integrally formed. The seal cover is opened and closed relative to the seal tube portion by the advance and retreat of the fine line portions. The tip of the writing portion is reliably sealed with the seal cover and seal tube portion when the writing body is in a stored position, so that the writing body is prevented from drying.
