PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection technique or an inspection system which is simple and used commonly, and directly inspects a plurality of samples of interest at low concentrations in a binding reaction, a catalytic reaction or the like of various species. SOLUTION: A method and an apparatus for measuring the presence or absence of reaction between first and second materials of interest by measuring osmotic pressure changes in a reaction cell, are provided. The reaction cell is capable of measuring the small changes in pressure that occur due to osmotic pressure shifts during a catalytic or binding reaction at species concentrations down to approximately 10<SP>-7</SP>M.
