PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prestressing stranded wire removing method for removing a prestressing stranded wire as a tension member without fail and in a short period of time irrespective of the type of a load bearing body or a mooring manner (tension or compression), and to provide a device for removing the same. SOLUTION: Before embedding an anchor tendon 45, part of a synthetic resin sheath 2 arranged on a front side of the embedded prestressing stranded wire 10, is removed, and a cathode 3 is arranged at the removed location to watertightly seal the sheath. Then the cathode 3 is faced to a portion of a prestressing stranded wire body 1 in the synthetic resin sheath 2, and an anode side 6b is connected to a necessary portion of the prestressing stranded wire body 1. When the prestressing stranded wire 10 is removed after completion of construction work, an electrolyte 5 is fed into the prestressing stranded wire at least at a location of the cathode 3, and a direct current is applied to a location between the cathode 3 and the anode, followed by cutting the prestressing stranded wire body 1 at the location opposed to the cathode by anodic dissolution.
