PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spun-dyed polyester fiber having good color tone with little dullness and fluctuation of the color tone, and also having excellent color fastness to light and heat resistance. SOLUTION: The spun-dyed polyester fiber is obtained by subjecting an ester-forming derivative of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, and an alkylene glycol to an ester-exchanging reaction by using an alkaline earth metal compound as a catalyst, deactivating the catalyst by a specific phosphorus compound (A), subjecting the diester in the system to a polycondensation reaction in the presence of a catalyst containing another phosphorus compound (B) and a specified titanium compound to provide a polyester, and melt-spinning the polyester, and contains a colorant.
