PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To complete a competitive ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) which enables a large amount of analyses at a time with good reproducibility in high sensibility without needing a complicated pretreatment in a hybridoma which produces a monoclonal antibody against berberine or coptisin being an effective component of a herbal medicine. SOLUTION: There is provided an antibody production method comprising: heating berberine at a high temperature to obtain berberbine; reacting the resulting compound with monochloroacetic acid; reacting the reaction product with 1-ethyl-3-(3'-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC); and then producing the antibody using, a material obtained by bonding a protein to the resulting compound, as an antigen.
