The door opener has an electromagnetic drive, operated for temporary movement of a switch element against a return spring bias, for release of a stop rail (2), allowing movement of a door catch (4). The blocking drive is provided as a kinematic chain which is closed in the locked position of the door opener and which is open in the released position of the door.
