A method and apparatus for moving pipe (22) on a rig floor (11) between a number of different stations including an off-floor rack (26) and (27), a preparation opening (21), a borehole, and a storage area. Tubulars (22) can be loaded onto the drill floor (11), prepared at a preparation opening (21), loaded onto or off of the storage rack (26) and (27), and connected to a dri ll string (19) while drilling is simultaneously conducted at the borehole. The apparatus further includes at least two pipehandling devices (24) and (29) f or communicating pipe (22) between a storage area (26) and (27) off the drill floor (11), a storage area on the drill floor (11), at least one preparation opening (21), and a drill opening (18). |
