PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for applying a lubricant, which has a gas passage for supplying a lubricant and a gas passage for returning it, supplies a lubricant powder to a die for forming the powder and stops the supply by stopping the flow of the gas for returning the lubricant and passing it, and has the improved stability of the quantity of the lubricant to be applied; and a method for applying the lubricant, which applies a more stable quantity of the lubricant. SOLUTION: The device for applying the lubricant comprises the gas passage 5 for supplying the lubricant, the gas passage 6 for returning the lubricant powder, a bypass passage, a gas controller 2 for controlling the flow of the gases, and a differential pressure gauge 7 for measuring a differential pressure between the gas for supplying the lubricant and the gas for returning the lubricant.
