PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To create the body of electronic mail while grasping the remaining amount of data which can be included in the body when the electronic mail which can contain image data in its body is created. SOLUTION: The electronic mail creating device generating electronic mail which contains image data in its body decides whether the image data are already included in the body of the electronic mail when a user performs an operation for including image data in the body of the electronic mail being created. When the decision result is affirmative, the device writes quotation data indicating that an image should be displayed by quoting the image data to the body of the electronic mail, and then calculates and reports the difference between the amount of data of the electronic mail and a threshold predetermined for the electronic mail.
