PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for epoch-makingly processing a cloth, with which a dark and light pattern with a hand of friction mark and a cleaning and bleaching feeling is readily formed in excellent reproduction on a cloth. SOLUTION: The method for processing a cloth comprises coating a cloth 1 with a solvent 2 to promote permeation of pigment 3 to the cloth 1 in a fixed pattern, applying the pigment 3 to the cloth 1 coated with the solvent 2, forming a dark and light pattern on the cloth 1 by difference in permeation degree of the pigment 3, washing the cloth 1 to provide the cloth 1 with a friction mark and a cleaning and bleaching feeling besides the dark and light pattern.
